Peonies at $1.40 Stem and Narrow Neck Bottles

What you need:

  • Peony blooms
  • Narrow neck 'antique' bottles
  • A silver tray 
  • A scarf
  • A crystal or glass candlestick and candle

It is Peony Season.  These gorgeous blooms are making their appearance this summer.  The season doesn't last long so bring some of these beauties into your home while you can. 

Where can you find them?  You can find them at The Flower Mart, and at the grocery stores.  I got one bunch (5 stems) at Trader Joe's for $6.99, that's only $1.40 a stem, and they look beautiful in single stem bottles.

You may find unique bottles like the pressed glass bottle on the left and the heart shaped bottle on the right in second hand stores.  The tall bottles came from the dollar store!  They were 99 cents each!  You can put it all together with a silver tray, a scarf, and a candlestick.  It's kind of like setting up a still life to paint.  You want interesting textures, shapes, and colors, that compliment each other and add variety and interest.  Look in your closet and drawers.  The scarf my daughter gave to me.  The tray came from friends who were moving.  Well, are you ready to go on a Treasure Hunt to the second hand stores?  Here we go.
